For many years this venue has been considered a benchmark against which all courses are measured, Harbour Town Golf Links is home to one of the top events on the PGA Tour, the MCI Classic. This Pete Dye-Jack Nicklaus designed course occupies a spectacular setting on the inland coast of Hilton Head Island.
This is a facility which, at the time it was opened, went against the trend for huge courses that prevailed at the time. Short par-4s require far more precision than brute strength. Harbour Town employs small greens, and it's a far greater test of one's chipping than lag-putting. The par-3s are highly regarded, perhaps because all involve water nearby.
This facility has become a symbol for excellence in the world of golf, and yearly makes everyone's list of Top-50 in the USA. It was recently acclaimed the 57th best course in the world by Golf Digest.
